I've Got Answers!

You've Got Questions...

Shit yeah! As you probably know I'm based in Geelong but I'm always up for an adventure! I'm more than happy to travel interstate or to regional VIC. I only charge a travel fee if your wedding or elopement is taking place over 100kms from Geelong.

Nope, normally it’s just me. I feel that in order to get the best candid images, it's best to keep the cameras and flashes to a minimum. However, there are some situations that call for a second photographer for a part of the day. This could be the case if the preparation venues are in vastly seperate locations, or there are specific images you wish to have in your album such as rear view of walking down the aisle while getting images of your awaiting partner at the front of the crowd. Just ask me during our catchup if you feel you'd like a second photographer.

For guys, about 45mins. For girls, about 90mins. Guys should be about to get suited up and ready to zhoosh their hair. Girls should be getting the finishing touches to their hair and makeup. Just a side note on the other family members at the prep locations-  try to keep it to an absolute minimum. Just your nearest and dearest.

I think it's a great idea to have a member of the bridal party act as the chief fire warden for the day! Someone to put out the spot fires if and when they happen.

If you would like to have special items such as rings, flowers and shoes etc. photographed on the day, please have them all together before my arrival. This way I can get straight to work on those detail shots.

In relation to the rooms for getting ready, it's always best to be in the most well-lit room.

I love to be involved in the whole planning process with my couples. This ain't my first rodeo, so I know the pitfalls that couples can find themselves in. I can see them a mile off and I'm happy to point them out before it causes a hassle for them! Let the wedding planning fire begin! 🔥🔥🔥

How much time is need for prep pics?

HOW LONG WILL BRIDAL PORTRAITS TAKE?

I love to take the Newlyweds and their bridal party for a quick sesh after the family photos are done. I usually allow 40 minutes for these pics. Then we send the bridal party away and I'll take you two off for your private couple's shoot. This is a time for you guys to soak in the emotions of the day and be together alone for the first time since saying "I do". (Something Samantha and I wish we had done on our wedding day). Anything less than 30 mins for this part can feel a bit hectic, so allow enough time for the two of you to chill-out.

HOW LONG WILL Family PORTRAITS TAKE?

I like to start the family formal photos as soon as possible. Usually after the group shot (if that's your thing) and after the Newlyweds have had a chance to feel the love! I love lists! Families can be funny sometimes, so a list with family members who are able to be grouped together for the family shots helps me out a lot on the day. This is something we can discuss further at our pre-wedding catch-up.

Pro tip: Delegate the LOUDEST family member to help me wrangle the rest of the fam! Having someone who knows most or all of the group that can quickly round people up moves the session on so much faster!

When I say family, it's usually grandparents, parents and siblings. I'll be at the reception and can snap a few pics of the extended fam there. All going smoothly, family formals should only take up to 30 minutes.

What is the best time of day for Ceremony and portrait pics?

In Spring/Summer, definitely the later in the day the better, and for Autumn/ Winter, around 3pm is great! Everyone wants those warm tones and low sun for their portraits. Seeing the light coming through trees or vines into the hair of the couple and making everything look magical is what I love the most about the "Golden Hour" which is about 1 hour before sunset. I'm getting excited just writing about it! I find the natural light after 4pm is at its most flattering. This will help avoid squinty little shrimp eyes and harsh shadows on your faces.

Try not to freak out if rain is forecast for the day. You can get some EPIC shots with gloomy rain clouds. AMAZING. In photography, we learn to roll with the punches when it comes to weather! If it's a particularly windy location we're visiting for the day, maybe ask the hairstylist to be a little more hardcore with the hairspray!

What about sunset?

So here's the tricky bit - quite often the party is kicking on during sunset. So it's something we will discuss during a catch-up. And honestly, if we're in Victoria, who knows what the weather conditions will be hour to hour!? It's actually possible to NOT get a sunset here! If you and your partner opt for the sunset shoot, I will approach you about 30 mins before sunset (if we are at the reception) and remind you. We will then find the perfect spot for your sunset shoot which will only be 15 mins or so, then it's straight back to the party!

Tap here for a Sunset time calendar for the Geelong region.

I don't think I've ever REALLY met a person who loves being in front of a camera. The best thing I can say is that I totally get it! I reckon I'm super awkward when I'm having photos taken too! I've been there, I know what you are feeling during your bridal shoot. I try to keep things candid and in a documentary style as much as I can. If I see a spot of beautiful light, I might position you guys in it and ask you to have a chat with each other or maybe even a sneaky smooch! The easiest couples to photograph are the ones who let loose and forget I'm there! This is a precious day for both of you, so let your inhibitions go and enjoy spending time with each other while I work to capture those memories forever. Nawwww!

This all comes back to the timeline and making sure we have all your non-negotiables covered. Additional hours can be added on to either service at $400 per hour. These hours can be added on the spot and will be invoiced separately the following day with a 7-day term.

It's a bit of standard practice for our industry to be fed at some point during the reception and I need to work in a 45-minute break to refuel at this time. If you have a sit down dining reception, I would be fed at the same time as your guests as no one really wants to have their photo taken while stuffing their face!

The next day after your wedding, I will send you a selection of sneak peek images for you to share with friends and family. They will be delivered via a link for you to easily download. From there on, my lead-time for delivery of the digital images is roughly six weeks. They will be sent to you in both high res (perfect for printing) and low resolution (for social media etc.) I never add watermarks to my work. If you are adding an album to your coverage, the albums usually take around 4 weeks to deliver once the final draft has been approved by you guys.

Every wedding is different. Some couples are not interested in capturing all aspects of the day, while others may be very specific about recording every tiny detail. I will deliver anywhere between 600 - 900 images. Let me just say, you will have plenty of photos for you to keep forever. A general rule of thumb is to deliver 70 - 80 images per coverage hour.

Yes! My albums and prints are sexy AF! I am currently offering a whole range of beautifully printed products, which are produced in our very own backyard here in Geelong and Melbourne. The Album is an amazing 10 x 10" bound coffee table book customised in a whole range of different options. I also offer museum-quality prints on fine art Lustre paper, and now a hand-torn deckled print. It's really something you have to see in person! Oh, and in case you missed it, if you add the album on at the time of booking, you'll save yourself $100!

Awesome! I knew you’d come around! Okay, so I require a $500 deposit upon booking to lock in the date. At this time I will also send you a copy of my wedding contract. The remainder of the invoice is as arranged and is due 60 days prior to the wedding date. I am more than happy to offer instalments too so you don't get hit with a big balance amount closer to the wedding day! Hit the button down at the bottom of this page, and we'll get crackin'!
