I'm a Geelong based wedding photographer who understands that beautiful timeless wedding photography doesn't include cheesy posing!

Finding the perfect wedding photographer is like finding a needle in a haystack. You want to make sure you’re not just picking out your favourite photo on his website, but that he’s good at what he does. So how do you find the perfect wedding photographer? It all comes down to five things…
As with anything to do with wedding planning, the budget must be considered. Drainer, I know! Now, you can find a photographer who will happily rock up and shoot your wedding for $500. Sure, they’ll get some photos of your day and hopefully, they are okay. But generally speaking, this type of photographer is usually after one thing. A quick 500 bucks. Someone like myself who charges a bit more than that is more invested in your day.
I take time and make the effort to get to know my couples well before the wedding day so when the big day arrives it’s like catching up with old mates! My couples understand that I am with them 100% of the way and that their experience with me and the memory of their wedding day is of the highest importance to me.
At the time of writing this blog post, my full day wedding service is only $2300. Now I know that’s not anywhere near the highest rate in the local market, but I believe that beautiful wedding photography should not just be created for couples with $60,000 weddings. Everyone deserves the absolute best, and that’s what I deliver.
Weigh up your options. Do your due diligence and google away! Sounds weird that I’m suggesting you look around, hey?! That’s only because I’m confident in my ability, and my pricing as well as having an amazon track record! I’m not one to blow my own horn, but I really feel it’s true. Look around, but I’m confident you will reach out before locking in another wedding photographer!

Understanding the style of your chosen photographer is an absolute must.
If you hire someone who is mainly a documentary wedding photographer do not expect to get the vogue magazine cover style photos. On the flip side, if you are after an extremely highly polished look for the wedding album (which is totally fine) then I would say stay away from the candid shooters.
Most of the couples who have booked me are people who genuinely want to remember their wedding day as it happened. As it was. They want me to capture them with their nearest and dearest. They want photos with their whole bridal party and they want images of just the two of them. Hanging out together treating in the day and everything that just happened. And looking to the future.
They know that I’m going to be there on the D-floor with aunty Norma and I’m going to have a joke with your Nanna. They trust that I am not going to pose them like absolute tools, and they will feel amazing and comfortable having their photos taken even if they hate having their photos taken! It’s kinda my thing 🙂
It’s awkward when your friends bring their new boyfriends/girlfriends to hang out with you. They think they’re great, but everyone else gets more of an up stuck-bitch vibe off them! It feels more like an intrusion than anything else because of how different they are from the group. Everyone is a little more on edge and giving everyone else sideways glances like “WTF! WHO DAT BITCH?!”.
That’s what you don’t want from your wedding photographer on the biggest day of your life! Really try to get to know your wedding photographer as a person as well as a photographer. The best way to do that is an in-person meeting to suss them out. Ask them random stuff not just about their business. Try to through them off balance with weird questions.
For example:
1. What’s the worst movie you’ve ever had to sit through?
2. What’s the weirdest flavour combination you’ve tried and loved?
3. What’s if your best cocktail recipe?
This won’t just open them up, but it will also make them think quickly on their feet which is what we as wedding photographers have to do without hesitation. Try it out sometime and let me know how it goes!
Oh, and if you’re wondering:
1. The Lovely Bones (thanks Samantha)
2. Maltesers and hot salami… TRY IT!
3. Deadman’s Chest: Spiced rum (Baron Samedi), butterscotch schnapps, lemonade, ice & fresh mint
As you’ve read, I’m all about making sure that my couples not only love their wedding photos, but they love the experience of working with me before the day, on the day, and after the day. I honestly want the absolute best for my couples and while I don’t charge the same high fees as my peers in the area, I believe that I offer a superior client experience unlike any other. If you want to see what I mean, I want to hear from you and your fiancé YESTERDAY!
If you’ve read this far, I reckon we’re a good match! Drop me a line! There’s nothing worse than not being able to find someone who can do justice to the most important event of your life – so make sure you get it right the first time by contacting me today. No other photographer will be more invested in your day than me. I want the absolute best for my couples because they deserve nothing less than the absolute best.
