Ok, you’re a tough cookie! You’ve done it! You actually made it through 2020 & 2021 and the godawful pandemic! That should be enough of a reason to celebrate as it is, but I’ve got a feeling that if you are reading this, you are engaged to your BFF and now it’s finally time to start the wedding planning! So here are a few things I would do if I were in your boots (just like heaps of my couples are!).
If your venue is the thing you have your heart set on, then contact them straight away and start working with the planning pro about setting a date. If it’s a particular Geelong wedding photographer (perhaps a devilishly handsome bearded type?) or an amazing celebrant you simply MUST HAVE, then start there. Once you have the non-negotiable locked in, the rest will fall into place around it.
That’s right. I said LISTS. Plural.
Look, I’m feeling very very confident that this thing (the big C) is behind us now, but who could have predicted it in the first place?! So I think moving forward, it’s a smart idea to have the A list, B list and even a C list. I would suggest starting in reverse with this task, which sounds bloody strange but let me explain; In the event that your chosen wedding day falls victim to another snap lock-down or the venue has its guest limits slashed, you need to know who is an absolute given to be there. The immediate family and I would cap it at 10.
Then I would look at the B list, and increase the cap to 20 guests. Generally speaking, from the last couple of lockdowns, the celebrant and the photographer are NOT included in the cap (as an FYI).
And lastly, look to the A list. This is everyone you’d love to party with on your big day! And let’s keep the rest of the post optimistic now! haha ?
You’ve waited so damn long for that little ray of sunshine to give you the go-ahead to start feeling the excitement of planning your wedding and starting the next chapter in your life together.
Do things the way you want to!
Be unapologetically you! Don’t want to dance at your wedding, don’t dance. Wanna do nothing BUT dance at your wedding? Dance your arse off! Live like it’s the last day of your life. And remember, celebrate that life with your loved ones. Give them big bear hugs and spend time with each other. It’s been a tough 18 months, but you made it. You did it! And now, you taking life by the balls and not looking back.
I’m so glad you survived the apocalypse! Now let’s get crackin’ on planning your wedding. As a professional wedding photographer, my goal is to work with you to create images that are uniquely yours and will help preserve this chapter in your life for years to come. Whether it be an intimate ceremony or a big celebration, I can’t wait to hear about all of the details! If you’re interested in hiring me as your wedding photographer, please get in touch to check my availability!
I can’t wait to meet you.
